(1) Steady growth of industrial scale

During the 11th Five Year Plan period, there was a significant increase in production, sales revenue, and total import and export volume, enhancing China's position as a major producer of basic electronics. Although the industry underwent minor adjustments due to the impact of the financial crisis during this period, overall development remained stable. In 2010, driven by the overall growth of the domestic industry, especially the rapid development of emerging industries, the industry resumed development to its highest level in history.

During the 11th Five Year Plan period, the sales revenue of China's electronic materials industry increased from 54 billion yuan in 2005 to 173 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 26%; The average annual growth rate of electronic component sales revenue is 16%, increasing from 610 billion yuan in 2005 to over 1300 billion yuan, including 123 billion yuan in printed circuit sales, 297.8 billion yuan in chemical and physical power supply sales, and 38 billion yuan in display device sales.

(2) Further Strengthening of Enterprise Strength

With the deepening of the "big company" strategy, China has initially established a group of large electronic materials and components companies with independent innovation capabilities and international competitiveness. In certain professional fields, it already has considerable strength, ranking among the world's top in terms of product output and quality.

In the past 10 years, the total sales revenue of China's top 100 electronic components has increased by 2.84 times, with an average annual growth rate of 12.32%. In 2010, China's top 100 electronic component enterprises achieved a total sales revenue of 154.49 billion yuan, a total profit of 13.958 billion yuan, and export earnings of 5.583 billion US dollars. Among the top 100 components companies in 2010, 39 companies had sales revenue exceeding 1 billion yuan, and 7 companies had sales revenue exceeding 5 billion yuan. During the 11th Five Year Plan period, China's printed circuit industry surpassed Japan and the United States as the world's largest producer. In 2010, the average sales revenue of China's top 100 printed circuit enterprises exceeded 826 million yuan, accounting for 60% of the country's total, with an average annual growth rate of over 15%.

The production scale and product quality of private electronic materials and component enterprises have developed rapidly during the "Eleventh Five Year Plan" period. At the end of the "Eleventh Five Year Plan" period, the number of private enterprises accounted for 48% of the entire industry, sales revenue accounted for 30% of the industry, and taxes paid accounted for 47% of the industry. Listed companies have been increasing year by year.

(3) Continuously improving production technology level

During the 11th Five Year Plan period, the supporting capacity of electronic materials was significantly improved, and the technical level in silicon materials, semiconductor lighting materials, Electroceramics materials and other fields was significantly improved. In terms of silicon materials, which can best represent the development level of the industry, the product level has been significantly improved. A 12 inch silicon wafer pilot line with an annual production capacity of 120000 pieces has been built, and 12 inch nitrogen doped Czochralski single crystal polished wafers can also be produced in small quantities, marking that China's electronic material technology is gradually entering the international advanced level.

During the 11th Five Year Plan period, the production technology level of electronic materials and components in China continued to improve, and the localization rate of key products significantly increased. In the early stage of the 11th Five Year Plan, China's optical fiber preforms were completely dependent on imports; At the end of the 11th Five Year Plan period, China's total production of optical fiber preforms reached 700 tons, accounting for 30% of the total domestic usage. The domestic printed circuit technology has moved from traditional single and double sided production technology to the direction of high multi-layer and high-density interconnection boards (HDI). Domestic enterprises have mastered advanced HDI production technology, and the absolute output and sales of main products have increased from traditional multi-layer boards to high multi-layer and even more than 20 layers.

The completion and mass production of the 6th generation and higher generation LCD panel production line has reversed the passive situation of China's complete dependence on imports for large-sized TV LCD panels, marking the beginning of China's flat panel display industry entering the field of large-sized products. In the field of plasma display panels (PDP), China has the ability to mass produce 50 inch PDP modules, further improving its technical level, and achieving phased results in the localization and supporting construction of the industrial chain. In order to compete for the initiative in future display competition, enterprises have successively carried out research and development of organic light-emitting display (OLED) technology and industrial layout. One passive organic light-emitting display (PM-OLED) production line has been put into operation, and multiple active organic light-emitting display (AM-OLED) production lines are under intense construction.

(4) Steady progress in clean production and preliminary development of circular economy

During the 11th Five Year Plan period, the electronic materials and component industry focused on the printed circuit, polycrystalline silicon, and battery industries, steadily promoting energy conservation, emission reduction, and circular economy development. A group of advanced technologies and equipment in the printed circuit industry, such as "physical recycling technology and equipment for waste printed circuit boards", "etching waste liquid recycling technology and equipment", and "low copper waste liquid treatment technology and equipment", have been promoted and applied in the industry. Many enterprises have voluntarily carried out clean production audits.

During the 11th Five Year Plan period, power batteries for electric vehicles such as hydrogen nickel batteries and lithium-ion batteries have entered the stage of industrial development. Renewable energy sources such as solar cells have rapidly developed, and battery production enterprises have achieved certain results in "energy conservation, consumption reduction, emission reduction, and pollution control". The production environment and conditions of enterprises have greatly improved.

(5) Outstanding issues still exist in industrial development

Local enterprises are relatively small and scattered, lacking leading enterprises with international competitiveness; Weak research and development capabilities, lack of collaboration and interaction between upstream and downstream industries; The external dependence of the entire industry is too high, and many key raw materials and spare parts need to be imported from abroad; The development of industry standards is relatively lagging, and the quality and reliability level of key electronic components and materials need to be further improved; Promoting energy conservation and emission reduction, clean production, and developing a circular economy still face significant pressure.
