The power supply of a computer is also an indispensable part of the computer hardware configuration. It cannot be turned on without a power supply, and other hardware devices cannot receive power. Let's take a look today at how to connect the power cord to other devices. The power cord is a nightmare for Mengxin. There are various types of power cords, some large and some small, and Mengxin doesn't even know how to connect them. Next, let's get to know these lines.

1. Motherboard 24PIN cable

The motherboard is actually a combination of 20+4PIN lines. Nowadays, the motherboard is all 24PIN, so the 24PIN power line is used to power the motherboard, which is the largest of all lines and easier to recognize.

2. CPU 8PIN cable

The CPU is composed of a 4+4PIN power supply line, which is currently basically 8PIN, so it is also called an 8PIN power supply line. It mainly supplies power to the CPU. The 8PIN line is usually inserted into an 8-hole socket near the CPU to power it up.

3. Graphics card power cord

The power supply for graphics cards is generally divided into 2 or 3 groups, with each group consisting of 6+2PIN and a total of 8PIN. This is because different graphics cards have different requirements. Some graphics cards do not require additional power lines and are directly powered by the motherboard. Some graphics cards require a 6PIN power line, while others require an 8pin power line, and some even require high specification power supply of 8+6 and 8+8.

4. Sata power supply line

At present, the only ones that need to use the Sata interface are the hard drives, which are quite special in length and usually have interfaces like the ones shown in the figure below.

5. Big 4PIN power supply line

Responsible for supplying power to other hardware, now basically only used for the fan of the chassis.

6. Final summary

The general types of power cords have been introduced, but in fact, there are only a few types of power cords. As long as you clarify what they are and what they do, it will be much simpler.
